We are a small and growing Aikido program in the Conway, New Hampshire
area. Mt. Washington Aikido began in 2012 when
Jack Henry Sensei started teaching Aikido in the Mt. Washington Valley, after many years learning Aikido in Baltimore County, Maryland. Our program is a part of Aikido of Hawaii International, an affiliate of the Aikikai Foundation in Japan.
Aikido is a traditional and modern martial art created by Morihei Ueshiba, O'Sensei. Often referred to as "The Art of Peace", Aikido's unique martial goal is self defense for the Defender (Nage) while protecting the Attacker (Uke) from serious injury. Additional benefits from Aikido practice beyond the self defense aspects include: Improved balance, cardiovascular function, strength (particularly leg and core), learning to relax, and how to safely fall while protecting oneself from injury.
